Official Launch of the Brompton NYC Edition
Continuing their yearly celebration of a major city, Brompton Bicycle, the iconic folding bike manufacturer, today unveiled its New York City Edition in collaboration with Sarah Canner from VESPERTINE NYC. Inspired by the city that never sleeps, the New York City Edition includes a limited edition bike with a special roll top bag with a reflective design and clothing set to kickstart 2017.
Using VESPERTINE NYC’s experience in developing a traffic-stopping blend of high design and reflective safety wear, Brompton aimed to create a bike that stands out in more ways than one. With a limited run of 1500 units, the bike has been designed to focus on urban performance and visibility. It features reflective Brompton and NYC decals along with lime green details: anodised cranks and hub, accented ergon grips and a low profile saddle, allowing safety on the streets with style. VESPERTINE NYC created the reflective design that is featured on the bike, bag, merino scarf and hat. In developing the project, VESPERTINE NYC took striking and prolific elements of the city, such the Manhattan Bridge, the Chrysler Building and the chevrons painted in cycle paths on New York city streets, and combined them into the semi-abstract design that forms the backbone of the brand’s Haute Réflecture® collection.
The New York City Edition has been specifically designed for the concrete jungle. A flat bar, ergon grips, and Kojak tires allow cyclists to ease through the congested streets of New York City. Along with reflective decals, each bike also features a USB rechargeable saddle light and regular Brompton battery/USB set to enhance visibility for the perfect night ride in the streets. In addition, Brompton’s signature folding bikes allow it to be stowed in the tiniest of apartments and carried up multiple flights of stairs with ease.
All knitwear accessories launching with the NYC Edition are manufactured in New York and with 100% merino wool to ensure maximum warmth. The 3M reflective thread adds a level of brightness which allows drivers to see riders from over 2,000 feet away. The hat can be worn underneath a helmet, with reflective detail still visible and the shoe laces remain super reflective all year round - perfect for cyclists of all genders and ages.
